How to make a mark in a chromatogram during acquisition?

Mark in a chromatogram can be created utilizing any HW with digital input (e.g. Colibrick A/D converter) or the Virtual Digital Input Output Loop module and Event Table tab from the Method Setup dialog. With proper settings, triggering the digital input is recorded as an event (vertical line labeled with name and RT) in the Acquisition and Chromatogram windows. The digital input can be triggered by pressing the start button when it is provided by HW, or by pressing the corresponding Digital Output in the Device monitor when provided by the Virtual Digital Input Output Loop module.

The following settings are necessary:

  • HW with digital input or Virtual Digital Input Output Loop module configured to Instrument
  • Method setup
    • Measurement tab - External Start/Stop enabled and set to Start Only
    • Event Table tab - set according to the image, where:
      • Name field determines the label of the event.
      • Source field determines which module provides the digital input.
      • Input field determines which digital input records the event.

Event Table

  • To display the marks, Show Events in Graph Properties in Acquisition and Chromatogram windows must be enabled (Dialog can be invoked by right-clicking the graph area in the respective window and clicking Properties...).
